Christmas Disaster Averted at My Parents Home – From Snyder’s Carpet Care Customer Gregg Sterett.

It was always fun to go home for Christmas and visit my folks. Often we could count on a white Christmas, always a fire in the fireplace, and time for family and friends to get together and enjoy a real home-style Christmas with the folks.  This year lots of our parents friends were stopping by to say Hi, have a glass of eggnog or wassail, exchange hugs and visit for a few minutes and take off again.  Some of them we would see later at midnight mass.  It was a small town Christmas Eve in Nevada, Missouri.  My brothers family was also visiting.

I was sitting on one-end of the family’s gold-colored seven-foot long sofa in the living room.  Someone had just handed me a glass of “Cold Duck” (Burgundy Wine) and I was watching my 5 year old first nephew Ryan climb up on the sofa at the other end.  I begin to take a sip of the drink and out of the corner of my eye I saw Ryan stand-up on the sofa turn to me and leap.  [Imagine a 5 year “Superman” impression when you are the target.]   When he landed in my lap, the Cold Duck went everywhere, but mostly all over the carpet, me and of course, Ryan.  Fortunately, Ryan had been born a few years after Scotchgard.  My savvy Mother had scotchgarded all of her carpets in anticipation of a future disaster.  Quickly she used clean towels to absorb the spill, and then a solution (I think it included hydrogen peroxide and soap) to wipe off the rest of the stain.  When all the stain was gone she used a hair dryer on the cool setting to dry the stain.  Amazingly, there was no sign of the stain.  I couldn’t believe it, I was sure the carpets were ruined but Scotchgard literally saved it, as well as Ryan and I.
