Dallas Texas Carpet Cleaning Company, Christine Snyder of Snyder’s Carpet Care offers tips on Dry Skin Remedy’s
When You Work with Water All Day Your Skin Gets Dry
Logically, you might think that working around water and steam all day like we do at Snyder’s Carpet Care would actually keep your hands saturated with water and constantly moisturized but just the opposite happens. When the water comes in contact with the skin it evaporates and takes with it many of the skin’s natural oils called the natural moisture factor (NMF). The more often the skin comes in contact with water, the more dry it becomes unless these natural oils are replaced. As a carpet cleaner we are exposed to lots of water during the day and needed to a good remedy for our chronic dry hands. We found it at BeautiControl with their products in the Manicure line.
The BeautiControl Spa Manicure Remedy for Dry Skin
The BeautiControl (BC) Spa Manicure Instant Manicure gently exfoliates dead skin cells and nourishes
it with natural oils that moisturize and protect our hands and nails. Then, the BC Spa Manicure Extreme Repair Hand Creme helps seal in the moisture to protect against dehydration and future damage. It leaves my hands feeling soft, smooth and looking young with no more itchy fingers or red knuckles and calluses on my palms.
Snyder’s Carpet Care Shares Tips for Avoiding Dry Skin
We found these tips for people with Dry Skin from the University of Iowa Dermatology Department and wanted to share them with you. Since Iowa and Nebraska grow so much of the worlds corn, I imagine those folks know a lot about dry skin and hands from shucking corn (just kidding, folks).
- Use warm, tepid water when possible instead of hot water, since hot water takes more oils a
way than cool water.
- Keep your length of water contact as short as possible. If you suffer from dry skin avoid long, hot showers or baths.
- Unless you have mud and grime on you, you really don’t have to use soap everywhere on your body. It’s OK to use soap in “pits and parts”, the areas where you sweat, like armpits and the genital area (private parts).
- If you need soap use a soap recommended for dry skin with emollients that can actually replace the skin’s natural oils.
- Using antibacterial gels for hand-washing does not cause the skin to dry out because alcohol does not bind to the skin’s oils.
- When drying off, pat the skin dry with a towel until the skin is not dropping – do not rub the skin vigorously.
- Use a good moisturizer on the skin immediately after any contact. (BC Spa Body Ultra-Rich Body Moisturizer has become a favorite of mine especially for dry skin on my face.)
